Here is a great way to make your own rock.
3 parts crush argonite gravel to 1 part water proof cement (I got mine from Lowes quickcrete) *Remember wear some type of plastic gloves while mixing otherwise your hands will dry out and you will hate yourself for not!*
Add water in small amounts until rather pasty. Let dry for a few days after sculpting your desired rock. Than soak it in water for 2 days change the water and soak it once more. After day 3 test the water for a pH change.
It should be okay as it cure very well under water.
Tips for designing caves:
- use a small bowl place it face down on table with some plastic wrap and slowly mold around it.
Tips for tube shapes:
- get one of those long balloons use to make balloon animals and blow it up just enough for a long enough tube. Place it on 1" of gravel and push with your fingers around the balloon to make uneven outline. (this will help with the bonding of the other side). Mold the cement with argonite over the balloon on one side and let dry. When dry turn over and finish the other side. When all dry pop the balloon and cure in water.
If you have some coralline algea in your tank it will take about 3 weeks to start showing up!
This stuff is great fro frag plugs too!
PM me if you need help or have questions! Happy rock making!
