Does anyone have any homemade ideas for catching a fish in a tank with lots of rock? The only thing I have seen are the acrylic fish 'boxes' that trap them but I don't want to spend that much on a plastic box! Plus for several of my fish I would have to have different sizes.

I guess if you don't want to remove the rock, or use a fish trap then you could either try a lot of wishful thinking and your net, or one of these.

Depends on the fish, but we put the net in the tank for about an hour just sitting there and then we feed the fish. Either with flakes or a veggie clip. While the fish are eating we usually have luck on catching them. They get used to the net it you have it in the tank for awhile and the fishes attention is on the food :-). Doesn't always work, but sometimes will.
Hope this helps!!!

Is the fish big or small? If small I have had luck with this method.
Get a small drink bottle. Gatorade or something that size. Place it in the tank with a rock on top of it to keep it from floating on its side. After about 2 days take it out and place some food in it and get your net ready. watch for the fish to go in it make take hours once it does quickly place the net over the whole and bring out your fish. Just dump the drink bottle into the net a wah-lah! Easiest way to get small fish like damsels. For larger fish try waking up around 4 am and get them while they are sleeping. Easiest way to get fish that also dont sleep in the rocks, use a flash lite and have someone hold it for you. Remeber fish can get blinded by bright lights too! ;)
